Manifesting Love: Why Vibration Shapes Your Dating Destiny
Your vibration regulates who you match with. This short story explains how raising your vibration is also how to manifest love of a higher caliber.

We Don’t Just Match Based on What We Want
If Cupid despised any human concept it was the guilty idea of "should." "I should go on a run after work today. I should go to my co-worker's baby shower." Should ruined so many of his potential matches. People weren’t in the right place at the right time. Humans were so curious about manifesting love, yet didn’t seem to grasp how they ruined their own creations. He'd seriously undervalued how strict observance of routines, and disregarding intuition got in the way of romantic matches when he took the job. Hindsight.
This month he was working out the details of an enticing match. Aksel and Leif from Sweden. Aksel used a prescription sleep aid, which wasn't a big issue, but it introduced a vibration in to his body that distorted his true vibrational frequency a bit. It wasn't enough to ruin his resonance with Leif. Yet, it kept him from addressing the reason he wasn’t sleeping well at times (unprocessed resentment from his past relationship). This would bubble up and cause quarrels with Leif if he could hook them up. However, that was the point.
Cupid wasn't paid the medium bucks to hook up happily ever after. Cupid was paid to engineer matches where couples could delight in each other's company AND work out sticky issues. An art and a science. Shaking his wings free of the custom holes in his lavender Supreme jacket, he rose from his desk. He needed to figure out a way to get Aksel to Oaxaca.
Leif & The Vibrational Frequency of Who We Attract
Leif was Scandinavian born, hair bleached lighter under sun so hot it hurt his feet to walk the beach barefoot at noon. He was in Puerto Escondido to surf, along with his friend Rorik. Rorik was a photographer who snapped photos of pros surfing the Mexican pipeline at sunrise. Leif was deemed a match for Aksel after working through some self confidence and anxiety issues over the last two years.
Before he hopped a plane to bury his feet in Mexican sand, he'd mostly buried them in his therapist's lush office carpeting. Unwinding reasons for his lack of confidence. Over time his posture changed as he physically embodied the higher vibration he was entering, and he began speaking more kindly to himself. Cupid knew Aksel’s frequency would only resonate with someone on his level of self respect, and Leif’s newfound self love shifted his frequency in to matchmaking territory.
Leif’s chin was now parallel with the sand. His elegant nightly run along the waves betrayed a swagger of confidence, as his physical appearance mimicked his elevated vibrational frequency. As he gained confidence he unwound many anxious habits that would have been annoying AF to Aksel if they met sooner. (Cupid raised a glass of Laphroaig 28 Year Scotch for Leif when he stopped trying to create perfect lines while vacuuming). Leif's nervous system was now relaxed enough to mesh with Aksel's.
It has been close. Aksel was vexed with what he called the Universe, asking why he wasn't meeting the right person. With green eyes and brown curls Aksel had no trouble reeling in company. This was assisted by an almost magical ability to have any leather jacket fit him perfectly. He had the easy smile of someone with a calm nervous system; baristas stumbled over their words when he ordered coffee. Had Aksel realized he was waiting on a guy to chill out his vacuuming tendencies, he would have raised a sculpted eyebrow in incredulity.
The Importance of Loneliness for Manifesting Love
Cupid knew manifesting love between Leif and Aksel would be worth the wait. Leif would inspire Aksel’s writing. They would have the same dry humor, and equally high levels of conflict resolution skills. Cupid knew Aksel wanted a drama free relationship, and Cupid was banking on Leif's unmatched introspective abilities.
If we do not enjoy our own company why would someone else? The more personal baggage we work out the more peaceful we are inside. When we enjoy ourselves we can wait for the right match.
Cupid’s main concern was Aksel losing patience and hooking up with Lukas who was almost a fit for him. Aksel knew it, but he was lonely. Loneliness was one of the main feelings that made Cupid's job so hard. Many humans couldn't make it through the waiting period and would end up with someone who had a few things they were looking for, and a whole handful of what they didn't.
Humans didn’t quite understand that how to manifest love was about coming from a place of peace with present reality. People weren’t great at manifesting love when they were trying to control the creation of a very specific partner mainly to escape an unhappy present reality. Preferences? Sure. Hyper-specificity without flexibility? No. Manifesting love was, ironically, about finding happiness in the present- to the point that a partner wasn’t needed to create happiness. Cupid only swiped right on jobs that were sans desperation. Desperation was neither attractive, nor magnetic. Matches from desperation tanked, people were pissed, blame was passed around like the cheap missives on candy hearts… and he didn’t want to be anywhere near that mess.
Then humans would come back to the Universe asking where their perfect match was. Cupid flicked his hair in annoyance every time. Did he get no credit? Did anyone realize how damn hard he tried? Realize how rare it was for two people to reach similar vibrations at the same time, who shared almost every quality both wanted? Seriously.
Inevitably, one person was left integrating patience. From Cupid's view he could see it would only be two months until he could match a couple. Inexplicably, one would call an ex to get back together or date someone for money. Worse, they’d quit therapy or start watching Netflix because their feelings became "too hard" to deal with right before a breakthrough. Trauma that if addressed, would have raised their vibration to that of their future beloved.
Cupid once flung his matcha latte all over his Ekaabo armchair when he was thisclose to manifesting a relationship- and the gentleman roared off in his G-Class with a 22 year old he described as "uncomplicated.” He'd be bored with her in months. Cupid had the perfect love match ready to bump in to him at a furniture showroom in days. Days!! After 1.5 years of work. Cupid's job could be incredibly unforgiving.
The main problem was intuition. Humans could often hear their intuition, but didn’t follow it. It didn't make logical sense, follow their rules, or allow them to continue their normal Tuesday routine. They would muse, "Why would I get coffee now? I don't normally go until 10am so they have fresh scones. I don't want to go before the scones are fresh." Not thinking that perhaps, for once, it wasn't about the scones. It was about filling their requests around manifesting someone who was an epic match. Cupid detested when matchmaking was limited to only people a person could meet whilst following strict routines. Yawn.
“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift, and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.” ~Albert Einstein
Leif & Puerto Escondido
This is where vibrational frequency comes in. Behaviors that help us vibrate higher are also how to manifest love of a higher quality. Working through unhelpful mental and emotional programming transforms us in to higher vibration people, clear our minds to receive intuitions, and remove potential baggage from future relationships. Cultivating higher consciousness, along with allowing free space to flow and follow intuition, add ease to following impulses. We increase our chances of being in the right place at the right time. Positive feelings directed at us by those we communicate smoothly with help us vibrate at a higher frequency, and these communication skills enhance relationships.
Leif whistled with other beach loungers as the sun took its final bow at the horizon in virulent shades of lilac. It looked like a bunch of orchids crushed and smeared above the ocean. Puerto Escondido congregated nightly along the beach to watch the sunset, lounging on blankets, playing volleyball, and body surfing.
Leif watched the ocean. Like whales blowing whip cream from beneath the water, whitecaps blinked in and out of existence. The night before, waves bubbled all the way up the beach and pooled in the main road like warm 7-Up. All along the beach skeletons of old buildings stood as a testament to times the ocean got really rowdy.
Cupid was pleased to set his match making for Aksel and Leif in Puerto Escondido. Environment influences human's ability to hear intuition. Puerto was the kind of place backpackers planned to visit for a few days and stayed for weeks, not knowing why except that it "felt good." The location was high vibration, and it buoyed visitor’s frequencies along with it like a rising tide.
Aksel landed at the airport with a bag of impractically dapper clothing he’d soon find himself embarrassed to wear. Three friends had mentioned Puerto Escondido to him within ten days. (Cupid's doing. He lamented Aksel could never appreciate the artistry that went in to those mentions.) Thankfully, Aksel assigned meaning to the repetitious mentions of the surf town, especially since Aven was the third mention. (You can find Aven’s story on becoming the vibrational frequency of what you want to manifest to manifest here.)
Leif flung his sinewy frame in to a hammock on his hotel deck, one leg dangling out. Sounds of a soccer match floated up from the outdoor lobby. A gecko slipped in to his room where he'd left a gap in the sliding door. He could hear live music at Alaburger and felt a strong impulse to journey over, even as the first drops of rain exploded on the deck railing.
Arranging a white wicker chair in the sand at Alaburger, he settled in a corner and splayed his long legs. A few girls with hair dreading from salt water claimed a cluster of chairs next to him, chatting about a drum circle in Mazunte.
Aksel & The Risks of Disregarding Intuitive Thoughts
Aksel's jet lagged eyes flicked open. Swinging up, he donned a pair of coral shorts, and soft gray shirt that masqueraded as casual, but was actually an investment piece. He strolled from the hotel, and down the main dirt road, deciding on a restaurant called Piyoli- purely because he snorted with repressed laughter over an organic salad called the F*** Monsanto. An elderly flute player with stringy white hair was just warming up at the open mike as he sat down.
Leif felt oddly compelled to join Rorik at Piyoli for a second lunch. Settling on some floor cushions he listened as Rorik’s photog friends discussed the fight they'd captured as some Argentinian surfers didn't heed the "locals first" rule of Zicatela. Leif’s eyes settled on a guy in coral shorts. His eyes crawled the restaurant, but kept being pulled back to this dark haired guy. He wasn't Leif’s type. He liked a sturdier build, but something about this guy seemed to glow. He'd never seen anyone eat a taco so elegantly.
“Instead of looking for a person who checks all the boxes, focus on a person with whom you can imagine yourself writing a story with that entails edits.” ~Esther Perel
Rorik caught him watching, elbowed him, and inclined his head to indicate he should talk to him. Even though being gay was now very widely accepted, Rorik knew it took Leif some courage to tell everyone a few years ago. Leif elbowed him back and returned his gaze to the possibly out of tune flute player.
Imagine if Lucille Ball & Desi Arnaz heeded societal pressure in the 1940s not to date interracially. They would have been deprived of their love, and the world would never have been gifted I Love Lucy. We want to carefully question beliefs or societal values that conflict with our inner guidance.
Aksel finished his tacos and leaned back as the elderly flutist finished his song with a flourish. He wasn't sure what to do. Leaving pesos on the table, he felt pulled to ask a group lounging in the back for an idea. Instantly he felt uncomfortable. Who liked approaching groups alone? He started to walk out, and felt the tug in his stomach again. Rolling his eyes, he pivoted back inside, standing to the side of the group apprehensibly. "Any recs for what I might want to see on a first day?" Aksel bounced his left foot as everyone looked at him. Damn it. He was practicing not ignoring impulses that felt awkward, but sometimes he detested the practice.
A dark haired guy smiled, and elbowed the blond next to him. Leif shifted around. "Would a dolphin watching tour be a total rip-off?" Aksel asked. Leif laughed, noting it could be five hours on a boat with no water or bathrooms. Tour guide circling the ocean in vain. Aksel laughed. "Live music?"
It splashed over Leif that his impulsive trip to Alaburger hadn't been a waste. "There's a drum circle later tonight in Mazunte. I was gonna go; you’re welcome to join. Ever ridden a Moped?" He exhaled all the words rather quickly. Aksel bobbed his head in agreement, extending his hand to shake Leif's.
Cupid kicked back on his chartreuse velvet sofa watching them register the current passing between them. This was the part he savored. When every actor in the play executed on impulses it helped everyone around them, making his job easier.
It had taken three people to bring up Puerto Escondido to Aksel. Emma bringing up the drum circle at Alaburger. Leif not discounting Aksel when he wasn't his type. Aksel and Leif following impulses that took them outside their comfort zones. Cupid nudged the heel of one Maison Margiela high top sneaker off with the other, letting them fall to the ground. When the power triangle of inner work, intuition, and courage culminated together the science of manifesting love flowed with ease. His work here was done.
